Continue a run
When an active run has a valid saved checkpoint, Chapter Select shows Continue for that run. Choose it to return to the latest safe checkpoint.
The restored state can be slightly earlier than the moment play stopped. Continue is a recovery point for the active run, not a menu of older save points.
Continue or New Run
For an eligible saved Chapter run whose Character is still alive, starting from that same chapter opens a Continue / New Run choice. Continue keeps the saved attempt. New Run ends and replaces it, so choose it only when you want a fresh build.
This replacement choice is unavailable for dead runs, unresolved Chapter revive decisions, or a run whose ending is still being saved. It does not replace the standalone RIFT flow. Resolve the pending run through the actions the game offers first.
Quit ends the attempt
Pause freezes gameplay and lets you inspect the run, open settings, resume, or choose Quit. Confirming Quit ends that attempt and removes it from Continue.
If there is no active checkpoint, Chapter Select shows Start Run instead.
Revive after zero health
The current build offers one free revive per run. It is a run allowance, not a permanent Free Revive purchase. After it is used, another death leads to the run-ending flow. Gem packages, rewarded ads, and the permanent Free Revive purchase are hidden in this build.
A Chapter revive needs its checkpoint saved before it can proceed. If the game shows Save Required or Retry Save, finish that save step through the displayed action. A saved revive resumes that same attempt; it does not open a choice of earlier checkpoints.
When Continue Later appears
Continue Later is a recovery action for a Chapter run with an unresolved, saved account revive request. It parks that same decision so you can return through Continue. It is not offered for every death, does not describe the ordinary free-revive flow, and is not the standalone RIFT action.
An unresolved Chapter revive blocks a fresh run from replacing it. Return to that run and complete the available recovery action first.
Checkpoint compatibility
Continue only accepts a checkpoint supported by the current game. Superseded Rite, adversary, boss, or RIFT save formats may be rejected after an update; an older attempt is not guaranteed to migrate. A rejected checkpoint is not evidence that all permanent profile progress has been lost.
What persists
These profile-level items carry into future runs:
- Gold and purchased Ancient upgrades;
- unlocked Ancient powers and the one power currently equipped for a run;
- your selected Character;
- chapter and difficulty unlocks;
- collection progress; and
- achievement progress.
Spells, levels, Parchments, Synergies, seals, and Advanced Spells assembled inside a run belong to that run and do not carry into the next one. See Ancients, Collections and Encyclopedia, and Achievements and Season 1 for the persistent systems.
